Abstract

We have evaluated the relative contribution of the lung in the in vivo disposition of chlorpromazine in rabbit by determining the extraction pulmonary coefficient. For that, we administered chlorpromazine intra-arterially and intravenously in dosages of 7.5 and 10 mg/kg to rabbits. The extraction pulmonary coefficient was 0.929 and 0.811 for doses of 7.5 and 10 mg /kg respectively. This fact indicates an high uptake of chlorpromazine by rabbit lung.
