Author Guidelines

1) Nature and Types of Contributions

From a multidisciplinary approach, RAMA publishes contributions aimed at a better understanding of martial arts and related topics. These works can be of two types:

1. Scholarly Articles, in their various manifestations (reviews, research articles, technical articles, case studies, etc.).

2. Reports of congresses, symposia, conferences, etc. and books and audiovisual media Reviews.

RAMA publishes contributions in English, Spanish and Portuguese. We strongly recommend authors to verify the quality of the language of their manuscript, particularly if written in a language other than one's mothertongue.

2) Originality and Assignment of Publishing Rights

Manuscripts submitted for publication in RAMA must be original, unpublished contributions. They must not have been sent to any other publication. To this end, a signed and dated statement by the manuscript's lead author is required. The authors will allow the editors to check the originality of the authors’ manuscript using anti-plagiarism software. In the same statement the author will assign the rights for the edition of the text and/or images to the University of Leon, accepting that accepting that if their manuscript is accepted for publication it will be licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. The authors are responsible for the scientific and legal aspects of their manuscripts.

3) Ethical Principles

• The signing authors of a manuscript assert that they have made a significant contribution to it. Minor contributions can be cited in acknowledgements section. All authors who have made significant contributions to the manuscript should be listed as coauthors.

• Any investigation involving humans or animals must include a statement certifying that the investigation was conducted in conformity with norms and protocols approved by their institutions.

• The authors shall notify RAMA as soon as possible any errors or omissions detected in their manuscript, even if the manuscript has already been published.

4) Manuscripts Submission

Manuscripts will be accepted only in electronic format. Manuscripts should be sent preferably via RAMA website, for which at least one author must be registered as "Author" and complete the submission process. If this is not possible, the manuscript will be sent by email to artesmarciales@unileon.es, indicating "Submission of manuscript" in the subject line.

5) Presentation

The manuscript will be presented in electronic format (MS Word or similar), typeset single spaced, front and rear automatic spacing, typeface Times New Roman 12 points, margins of 3 cm and pages numbered consecutively. A title page will be included in a separate file.

The images, if needed, will have sufficient quality (we recommend a resolution of 300 dpi) and will be sent in separate files in TIFF, JPG or Photoshop format.

5.1) Title Page

1. Title: Titles should not be excessively long or difficult to cite.

2. Short title: For use in headings, if necessary due to the length of the original title.

3. Full name(s) of author(s): Provide the names of authors and their sequence for the article.

4. Institution: Name of the institution and countries of each author.

5. Mailing and e-mailing address: Include for all the authors of the manuscript.

6. Brief Curriculum Vitae: Summarize the institutional affiliation of each author (University, Research Centre, etc.) and background (academic, professional and related to martial arts) to be published at the end of the article (approximately 7-8 lines).

7. Complementary information: Funding sources, research projects, acknowledgments, etc. Authors can suggest three potential reviewers for their manuscript.

5.2) Length of Manuscripts

5.3) Scholarly Articles

a) The first page will include: (1) Title of the manuscript. Do NOT include the names of the authors and their affiliation, in order to allow the anonymous evaluation of the manuscript. In the same manner, all direct references to the authorship of the work must be removed. (2) Abstract. Include a short (150 to 250 word) structured abstract containing basic information about the different sections of the manuscript. (3) Keywords. Provide three to six keywords. (4) If written in Spanish or Portuguese, include a translation of the title, abstract and keywords to English.

b) Body of the article: (1) Structure the manuscript consistently in relation to its contents. It is suggested a basic scheme consisting of Introduction, Main Body (with the corresponding sections and subsections, e.g. objectives, methodology, results, discussion), Conclusions and References.

In accordance with the multidisciplinary nature of RAMA, authors are encouraged to follow the specific conventions of their academic disciplines.

Whenever possible, include a section explaining applications or practical importance of the research.

c) Style: Although RAMA addresses college-level readers, is intended to be accessible to people with diverse knowledge, ages and occupations. For this reason, the articles must be written in a style clear to those readers who may not be fully familiar with the subject and its specific vocabulary. It is intended that the journal has international distribution.

d) References in the text. Follow the general guidelines of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th Edition. Add stable links to online references where possible.

e) Photographs and images: If the article has pictures or images, authors will indicate their placement in the text.

f) Tables and Figures: Tables and figures mustbe numbered consecutively and placed in the body of the article in their corresponding position, with an explanatory title. Follow the general guidelines of the Manual of the APA, 7th Edition.

g) Footnotes. Avoid footnotes as much as possible. If required, place them at the end of each page using the command "Insert Footnote".

h) Responsibility. Authors are responsible for any violation of copyright which may be incurred for plagiarism of text, photographs, tables, figures, etc.
