Desde hace cinco siglos, la obra Historia del gran reino de la China de Juan González de Mendoza siempre ha ejercido una gran influencia en la comunidad académica internacional. Este artículo toma como punto de partida la trayectoria de la traducción al chino del libro, y pretende interpretar la interrelación entre las ediciones de la traducción al chino y el proceso histórico de las relaciones sino-europeas desde el trasfondo político, económico y social, puesto que cada representación del libro de Mendoza brinda una interpretación actualizada del proceso contemporáneo de las relaciones chino-occidentales.
