Abstract

This paper focuses on the analysis of a text of female authorship written by a prominent figure related to a conflict developed in the French region of La Vendée from 1793. A rural revolt that became a civil war extended up to the first third of the nineteenth century. Unlike the male memoirs written on the same matter, the female ones reflect the inevitable change that any war causes in an established system, certain alternative models of living together in this context (in which women had an outstanding contribution), the modification of traditional roles played by both sexes in wartime and the determination of women to be involved in the military life.
