Résumé

Being a publication of works by not-so-well-known female writers in Great Britain, La causa de las mujeres de Gran Bretaña a través de sus textos represents a novelty in the field of feminism. The following review offers a generalized view of its layout, as well as the accurate translations of original texts, through a critical reflection of the selected works presented in the book. The collection brings a new approach to the origins of feminism by offering Spanish-speaking readers the opportunity to delve into the minds of those who not only defended the feminist cause in Britain, but pointed the way forward for other women around the world.

Concepcion Parrondo Carretero, Universidad de Málaga - España

Profesora interina en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras, departamento de Filología inglesa, francesa y alemana, de la Universidad de Málaga.

Born in Málaga, Spain, Concepción Parrondo lived in the United States of America for 27 years, out of which 10 were spent in the South. Having obtained two graduate degrees from the University of Málaga (Spanish Philology and English Philology), and a Master’s Degree in English Studies, she is currently working on her PhD in American Southern Literature. She has recently published “Stereotyping and Stigmatizing of Poor Whites in Today’s USA,” Linguistics and Literature Studies, vol 5, no. 6, Dec.2017; “Individual and Collective identity demystifying the Poor Whites/‘White Trash’ Stigma,” REN (Revista de Estudios Norteamericanos) vol. 21, 2017; and “Trashing the Myth of the “Old South”: White Trash Identity-Seeking in DorothyAllison’s Bastard Out of Carolina,” Verbeia, no. 3, 2018.
